Sometime after the horrible years of guitar-driven industrial tragedy, Bill Leeb decided enough was enough. Cryogenic Studios obviously welcomes the new unity between techno and industrial. In the past, the difference was mainly driven by the fact that industrial was both dark and contained vocals. Here we have all remixed or previously unreleased tracks from Equinox, Front Line Assembly, Delerium, Pro>Tech, and Synaethesia. It is by far the best conglomeration of material to ease the faint of heart into a slightly darker side of electronic dance music. I have regained my love for Bill Leeb on this one, and anyone who has listened to the Chemical Brothers Dig Your Own Hole should pick this up for Pro>Tech’s “Erotic Onthology” track. You might need heavy medication to deal with the fact that you really do like “the darker side” when it’s done right. Cleopatra Records, 13428 Maxella Ave. #251, Marina Del Ray, CA 90292
