Pi

Music for the Motion Picture

Thrive/Sire

Though I haven’t seen the film for this, the concepts behind it sound pretty interesting. The soundtrack easily keeps pace, with intellectual cuts from Aphex Twin, Gus Gus, Orbital, Autechre, Roni Size, Spacetime Continuum, David Holmes, Massive Attack, and Banco de Gaia. Incidental music (though it’s a bit too aggressive at times to calmly stay in the background) is provided by Clint Mansell – it easily matches the rest of the soundtrack’s brilliance.

You don’t have to be a complete geek to appreciate the beauty of Pi (the number), but it helps. Similarly, this soundtrack is probably best appreciated by those who are intrigued by more than repetitive beeps and samples.
