My goodness, what a change from one album to the next! The last time I heard Sam the Butcher, they were playing catchy-as-hell ska-punk. They seem to have lost the ska somewhere and added a more anthemic element to their music, resulting in a sound that’s more along the lines of Avail. Still catchy, just in a different way. My main complaint is that the vocals could stand to learn a couple new tricks. Eight songs here (including a cover of Elvis Costello’s “What’s So Funny About Peace, Love and Understanding”) clocking in at under thirty minutes. Far Out Records, P.O. Box 14361, Ft. Lauderdale, FL 33302
