J Street Jumpers
Is You Is or Is You Ain’t My Baby?

Kids, can you say “cash in”? I knew that you could. This blatant grab for the dough generated by the current swing revival is a disc full of covers of swing standards, including (surprise, surprise, surprise) Louis Prima’s “Jump, Jive, and Wail,” the Gap ad song that the Brian Setzer Orchestra repopularized. I wouldn’t have a problem with this if the J Street Jumpers showed any character, but there’s no feeling on this album – it’s blander than unsalted soda crackers. For swing, that’s nothing short of deadly. Swing may be an old music, but it shouldn’t sound like it. For die-hards only, and even they may want to give this one a pass… Mapleshade Productions, , , ; http://www.satelink.net/~cdmaple
