Satisfact

The Third Meeting at the Third Counter

K

Though none of the names behind Satisfact ring a bell – David Schneider, Chad States, Matt Steinke, and Joshua Warren – the band has a sound that belies years and years of oblique jamming and bands gone bust. Satisfact’s precise and driving compositions defy categorization, as the band lets its influences shine through only in unrecognizable moments. Shades of Devo, the Minutemen, Led Zeppelin, Brainiac, and early Fugazi seem to flit about, but it could just be my imagination. “Triple Deck” starts out with a potentially fun-kay beat, and after a lengthy Buzzcocks interlude settles into a the musical equivalent of hypnotic railroad clickety-clack.
