Secadora

Secadora

If I recall correctly, una secadora is roughly translated as “drying machine.” I don’t really know what that has to do with anything, apart from the unlikely event that someone will use it in a comparison between Secadora and Sonic Youth. Wait, just forget about Sonic Youth – this has nothing to with them. This has more to do with those days in college when I would get all excited about seeing a friend’s band in a tiny, cramped, dark basement. Differences here include the fact that I’m not friends with Secadora. The effects, however, are equal: I make sure I arrive early, I tend to drink too much, they turn their amps up way too high, I realize I must start playing music again, I start remembering songs from previous shows, I’m impressed by the smallest things. And this album does it’s best to catch that spirit. I especially like the 7 minutes of looping echoplex at the end. http://www.secadora.com
