Jump, Jive, an’ Wail

The Collected Recordings Vol. 1

Brummagem

It was only a matter of time. A dozen versions of the swing standard are collected on one CD, from Louis Prima’s classic original to the Brian Setzer Orchestra’s recent Grammy-winning version. Along the way you get takes from the J-Street Jumpers, the Crescent City Maulers, and Daddy Warbucks and the Little Orphan Annies, along with never-released versions from the Cherry Poppin’ Daddies, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, Hipster Daddy-O and the Hand Grenades, and a few other daddies. New versions of this old classic are being recorded at the rate of one a week, according to the latest estimates; as such, Brummagem has already scheduled volumes 2-4 in this projected 24-volume set.
