Speaker Bite Me

Inner Speed

ExLibris

Danish quartet Speaker Bite Me do the whole safely-fuzzed, cloyingly-bored indie-pop schtick a tad better than most other like-minded bands, namely, because they plunder just about every record Sonic Youth’s done the past decade; then again, that will certainly score them some “hip” points. But, hell, they scored some points with me for songs like “Brand New Wintercoat,” a deft cop of Team Dresch’s most restrained and teary-eyed moments, and “Let It Go Man,” which is not unlike later-Codeine after a cup of coffee (only one cup, mind you). I’d better stop listening to this before I actually begin to dig it – oh, the horror!
