Agricantus

Best Of

World Class/Hearts of Space

A very unusual curry of world influences, hailing from Italy. Agricantus has been releasing records for almost ten years, but this “best of” seems to compile tracks mostly from recent releases. The sound is consistent, a driving mixture of heavy but danceable industrial beats (think Nine Inch Nails) and global sounds. Not exactly a new thing, but Agricantus pulls it off pretty well. “Carrizi R’Amuri (Es Souk)” is my current favorite, with intriguing patterns of splashing water augmenting the percussion and vocals that sound Portuguese (?) appearing to intently describe something. An interesting excursion.
