Donald Glaude

Off the Hook

Moonshine

His debut album proper, Donald Glaude’s Off the Hook is for deep house aficionados only. That’s not to say that’s a bad thing – just a restricting one. Though his DJ-ing skills are capable enough for the grooves he lays down, Glaude is a bit obscure – and, thus (in this case), more aesthetically limited – in the artists/DJs he chooses to remix, the Freshmaka being the only semi-noteworthy one in the bunch. However, Glaude manages to a seamless job of it on Off the Hook , invoking the rave club experience as adeptly as anyone else does, but that’s about all – again, strictly for genre fans.
