Merauder

Five Deadly Venoms

Century Media

Merauder’s post-Cro Mags worship is a deliberate one (the cover of “Life On My Own” notwithstanding), Five Deadly Venoms the sound of hardcore-weaned kids unabashedly jackhammering their way through a macho metal. And jackhammer they do: Aside from random circle-pit-friendly ones, tempos rarely stray from the muck-your-way-thru-the-shit-‘n-piss ethos of Merauder’s NYHC comrades. Though drill sergeant Jorge and company bear-growl like boot camp veterans, Five Deadly Venoms isn’t all urban warfare, stark melodies slowly seeping from their rubble.
