Grease

The Not So Original Soundtrack From The Motion Picture

Dummyup/Lint Screen

A punk rock cover/tribute to the Grease soundtrack. While not nearly as brilliant as what Schlong did to West Side Story with Punk Side Story, it’s still pretty cool. I’m not sure how the trend to marry musicals and punk rock began, but please keep it going!

The proper amount of respect was given to the subject matter at hand, making the end result sound that much more enjoyable. It’s tongue-in-cheek at times – it’s punk rock – but you can tell that they actually like the musical. I think. The most amusing moment is Atom & His Package’s version of “Look At Me I’m Sandra Dee,” in which he sings over Less Than Jake’s version (remember Greased?) sans Package. Atom & His Jake? Other favorites are the Parasites doing “Tears On My Pillow,” the Nobodys doing “We Go Together,” Kung Fu Monkeys doing “Sandy,” and J Church doing “You’re the One That I Want.”
