The Milwaukees

Missile Command

Childlike

Hitting off in fine power trio style, the Milwaukees move between pop and rock with strong harmonies that slide over guitar feedback and solid beats. Closer to alternative style sounds, like the Foo Fighters, perhaps, but smoother. Not the same rough edges. There are a few points where it slips almost too casually into some ballad rock dramatics, but the guitars manage to pick it up before it gets too soaring. The drums roll, rock, and drive across the lines laid out by the bass, the vocals shift from smooth to harsh, and I find myself thinking of Soul Asylum. Maybe a little more pop in these rocks wouldn’t hurt.
