Billie Myers

Vertigo

Universal

Pop songs only have two basic elements, melody and lyrics. Billie Myers’ songs that work the best are the ones with the catchiest melodies. Unfortunately, those songs seem to be the ones that borrow other songs’ melodies. In the case of “Flexible,” it’s accomplished through the use of James Bondian musical motifs. Heavy sampling of Hot Chocolate’s signature song “You Sexy Thing” creates the melody for “Am I Here Yet? (Return to Sender).” The rest of the songs, lacking a solid, pleasing melody, fail to provide a suitable showcase for Ms. Myers considerable vocal talents.
