The Oxford American Magazine

4th Annual Southern Music Issue

The highly-anticipated Oxford American Magazine’s 4th Annual Southern Music Issue is now in the stores. In addition to the some of the finest music-writing to be found anywhere, a fine 23-song sampler CD is included as a bonus. This CD, compiled by Rick Clark, is one of the finest most diverse and eclectic compilations of southern music that you’ll find anywhere. This year’s offerings, as always, range from some lesser-known songs by well-known artists, to some VERY little-known artists. Contemporary Southerners such as Tom Petty, Todd Snider, Wilco, Kevin Kinney, the Derailers, Randy Newman, Alejandro Escovedo, and Randall Bramlett, take their places alongside offerings such as a Robert Mitchum and Lillian Gish song titled “Leaning” from the movie The Night of the Hunter.

Hurry to your local bookstore and ask for it. If they do not have it, single copies can always be ordered by phoning 1-800-269-6926 or 662-236-1836. If you are a fan of southern or Americana music, it might well be the best $8.50 you’ll spend on music all year.
