ALL

Problematic

Epitaph

Another very solid effort by the band which some will unfortunately continue to consider Milo’s redheaded stepchild. The only serious misstep is the idiotic “She Broke My D*ck” (and no, it doesn’t refer to a waterfowl or a wharf), which sounds like it might be funny, but is just lame. On the plus side, however, “Carry You,” “Better Than That,” and “The Skin” are all great, semi-philosophical looks at life, there are a bunch of typical (for ALL) lost-love songs (“www.sara,” “Alive,” “Theresa”), and a couple polemics that, again typical for ALL, oversimplify real life for the sake of making a point, in this case ranting against, respectively, Christianity and purportedly suicidal whiners. While these last two won’t win any friends among religious folks or advocates for the mentally ill, ALL has never been afraid to say the wrong thing, and even if I disagree with some of what they say, I still like this album a lot.
