Sixteen Deluxe

Vision Take Me Make Me Never Forsake Me

Sugar Fix

Almost frighteningly, the CD opens with a noisy, riff-filled, “Spirit in the Sky” kinda beach blanket bad girl go-go groove. The vibe tends to continue, though, drifting in and out between semi psychedelic space outs and nicely harmonized vocals. Ride, build and swell. Sometimes it flows slow and beautiful into a Mazzy Star stained melancholia, and I think that’s when the sounds hit me hardest, right before they cut and rage into some distorted space overdrive. The guitars go harsh at times, the sounds trip backwards into roughness, but even the roughness of this band shines.
