The Rising Tide

Time Bomb

While not impressing me as fast as their previous albums, The Rising Tide is still definite Sunny Day style. The wailing preach of Jeremy Enigk’s vocals, hitting notes like pure inspiration… the wrench of anguish and hope at the heart of each song, painted in vivid dynamics. This album seems to be heavier. Still carrying the floating heaven spaces, but when they crash down, they crash harder. “Disappear”, the fourth song on the album, has got to be my favorite, coming in with rolling ocean drums and then sliding into the sky with pure emotion. You stand, mountain high, stretch your arms wide, and you feel all the music inside you.
