DJ Craze

Mixer Presents United DJs of America Volume 16

DMC

The sixteenth volume in Mixer magazine’s United DJs series – which has highlighted mixes from Josh Wink, David Morales, and Frankie Bones – is also the first to feature a hip-hop DJ. Fortunately, DJ Craze, a DMC World Championships victor, has quite an ear for the drum n’ bass intelligentsia, precariously interweaving convoluted tracks by Trinity, Usual Suspects, and Total Science that are heavy in throb, intricacy, and attack. Very few melodic moments sully the blustery mix, providing rapture for beat-fiends and little release for the pacifier-sucking glow-stick set. In addition, Craze’s acclaimed turntable pyrotechnics provide decidedly rugged transitions, finally creating a DJ mix album with the warmth of a traditional instrumentalist.
