A bit like the eels, and a bit like no one else. This album of loosely related vignettes documents a band enthralled by the future and capable of creating sonically rich songs that envision this future. While this may sound like the medium Radiohead calls its own, this band performs with a sense of humor and groove lacking in much of Radiohead’s work. Attentiveness to detail matched by ambitious arrangements allows this band to flirt with different categories without ever having to reside in one single mold. This is a fun album, but one that requires the listener to approach with an open mind. This is a good choice for fans of eclectic pop music.
