Enya

A Day Without Rain

Reprise

It never fails, no matter how hard I try. I hear Enya and all I can think about is the dewy grass between my bare toes on the morn of a warm summer day; the waves undulating me into a thick, deep sleep and where I put my yoga mat. New age or not, she is something else; a pioneer of the conscious melody. Much like some of her previous work (Watermark, Shepherd Moons, and In Memory of the Trees), A Day Without Rain renders you at ease without you even noticing. This is a CD you can set as background music for everything in you life: pop it in to accompany your morning cup of joe, let it calm you on your monotonous morning drive to work, take in some dinner (and dancing) to a rhapsody like “Only Time,” and meditate under the moon to the title track, “A Day Without Rain.” This CD is a must for any Enya fan; muse-like and dreamy, it casts a spell of pure peace and relaxation. In a perfect world, doctors could prescribe this instead of pills for hypertension (and it just might work)! While it lacks the complete depth that In Memory of the Trees had, Enya’s unchanging talent and consistent rich emotional music gives her away even before you see her name scratched on the front of the CD. For a change of pace, to slow down in this relentless world, make a date with music that lets you think about nothing and everything without you even knowing. Fall into the amazing world of Enya and let it transform the way you hear music forever.
