The Causey Way

Causey Vs. Everything

Alternative Tentacles

Further proving they•re infinitely more than a one-trick pony, The Causey Way return with another round of schizoid shenanigans in Causey Vs. Everything (appropriate title, no?). The follow-up to 1999’s highly lauded With Loving and Open Arms, the quintet’s second album (and fourth record thus far) finds Causey and company bringing their electronic yearnings and pop undercurrents ever more to the forefront with categorically successful results, the 13-song salvo sounding quintessentially “Causey” yet altogether like a step in a better, slightly different direction. And that direction? Well, it’s still a mish-mash of futuristic proto-punk, splattered surf-rock, ebullient electro-pop, and general beyond-weird wanderings, but damn if it isn’t just as sublimely surreal, as infectious as the clap as it’s ever been, perhaps a bit more so now than before, basically because Causey’s muse keeps getting more dynamic and multi-dimensional with every release. Causey Vs. Everything, eh? Even if they had any similarly minded competition, The Causey Way would summarily dismiss them • testify, brothers and sisters!
