The Worldwide Tribute to the Real Oi!
Today’s punters doing the songs made famous by yesterday’s football hooligans sounds like a great idea in theory. In practice, the record starts with Agnostic Front’s mauling of “Take ‘Em All” by the wonderful Cock Sparrer, and bottoms out, horribly, in the middle of the CD with Stampin’ Ground’s hideous metallization of the even more classic “Where Have All the Bootboys Gone” by Slaughter and the Dogs. While there are some bright spots by The Dropkick Murphys, Oxymoron, and Sick of It All, for the most part, this fails to register on my Oi-ometer.
Here•s what to do: Find this in a record store. Write down the song titles. Go to Captain Oi (label that specializes in this stuff), and buy the originals.
