Powderfinger

Odyssey Number Five

Universal

Strong and full sounds, shifting like a shoegaze rockfest. This just sounds like Britpop, but prettier. It’s on Universal, and I know that fact alone would make some people just ignore the band, but… it really ain’t all that bad. Sure, it’s not that original, it’s a little over produced, but the songs are good. The inspirations are varied enough to keep the band from sounding like an Oasis rip-off, though you hear hints of that. I like those Swervedriver moments best, but the strange kinda Thom Yorke meets David Bowie meets Billy Corgan vocal thing that slides around a few tunes are pretty damn interesting.
