Casper Fandango and His Tiny Sick Tears

How•s Your Hand?

AAJ

Wild musical hallucinations from manic pop genius Jason NeSmith, aka Casper Fandango. How•s Your Hand? tramples through a multitude of musical forms, drawing from such loose ends as The Residents, Frank Zappa, Daniel Johnston, Ween, and too many others to mention. A stripped-down rendition of General Public•s “Tenderness” should stand out amidst the rest of the musical mayhem, except that just seems to fit into this nothing-quite-fits album. “Mosey Home” is a stunning piece, a strolling tune reminiscent of perfect weather and plenty of time, with a quite insane organ-and-guitar dual lead. “The Other Veronica” shows us Mr. Fandango•s lyrical prowess, with such mad rhymes as, “Though she says she•s moving to Canada/I couldn•t take it for granted-a/That the greatest girl on the planet-a/Has a crush on me.” Rock on Casper Fandango. Did I mention the Yoko Ono cover?
