Digger

Trainwreck

Hopeless

Trainwreck is a solid release of mature sounding melodic punk. Digger combines thoughtful and personal lyrics with catchy guitar parts to create a quality EP. I am reminded of the early stuff from The Get Up Kids, without the emo-ness. This is definitely a reason to look forward to Digger’s next tour. One complaint, though: at times, the instruments overpower the vocals, making the vocals difficult to discern. And the vocals are perhaps Digger’s best asset. The singer’s voice is neither incredibly high-pitched nor whiny, and the backups are actually in tune. “That’s What I Get” is a standout track on this album, with jangly acoustic guitar and clocking in at under a minute. Personally, I think that song should be made longer. The answering machine messages at the end of the album are amusing, too.
