Fireball Ministry

FMEP

Small Stone

Fireball Ministry, the excellent stoner metal band that’s at the top of the stoner heap, has belted out this excellent EP heralding, I suppose, a new full-length follow-up to their awesome 1999 full-length release, Ou Est La Rock? FMEP contains three new original songs, “King,” “Choker,” and “Maidens Of Venus,” each of which is heavy, hard-rocking, Sabbath-esque metal. Then things get interesting•

As part of the main FMEP package, They’ve included covers of Alice Cooper’s “Muscle Of Love” and a surprising version of Judas Priest’s “Victim Of Changes.” The latter is pretty darn heavy to begin with, but this? Man, it’s mind-blowing. If that wasn’t enough, there’s three bonus tracks, each off a tribute album upon which Fireball Ministry was (obviously) a major contributor. There’s Blue Cheer’s “Fortunes,” a spine-chilling version of The Misfits’ “Cough/Cool,” and finally, Aerosmith’s “Movin’ Out,” off the recent Right in the Nuts tribute.

I urge all fans of true stoner metal to check out Fireball Ministry’s cosmic Web site for more info, especially on the aforementioned tribute albums.
