Pure Bastard Rock

Orange

The first song hits like a drunk punk cover of a Possum Dixon song. It’s got these pop keyboards sliding in and out of a boozy swagger of a tune, and it just hits me like that. They get more raunchy, more noisy, kinda like Pussy Galore, blues style. New York mess in the microphones, but managing to sound like some twisted take on the blues, even if they can’t play their own songs. It’s not that bad, in fact, it’s good – but yeah, messy. The mess gets cleaner, and you hear the slide of the guitar, and the grit in the blues tones. Not quite Jon Spencer, but moving towards there.
