The Partisans
So Neat
TKO
Sometimes what a musical career is a little time off from the studio. But seventeen years? The Partisans were one of the early (1978) crop of UK (Welsh, to be specific) punk bands, and released their last record of new material in nineteen-freaking-eighty-four, for heaven’s sakes! This single features three songs on CD, two on vinyl.
A lot of times, reformations (not really a reunion here, it’s the two guitarists with a new rhythm section) like this sound pale in comparison to early work, but not on this one. All three songs are solid midtempo rockers in the early Clash/Stiff Little Fingers vein (there’s a reggae-ish breakdown towards the end of the second track reminiscent of “Safe European Home”). Definitely put this one on your must-get list, and hope there’s an album out before 2018.
