Mary J. Blige

No More Drama

MCA

“Just dance to it until you’re ready to hear what I have to say,” says Mary J. about No More Drama. She supplies plenty of danceable tracks to accommodate this request, but that’s not to say that there aren’t also a handful of songs that (surprise!) actually require thought and feeling. The first single, “Family Affair,” is one of the first category, and its standout ability matches with the female anthem “PMS,” the title track (which oddly enough is built upon the theme from The Young and the Restless, speaking of drama), the Caribbean flavored hip-hop tune “Dance For Me,” “Never Been,” and her poem “Forever No More.” Mary, Mary does it again, all hail the Queen of Urban Soul.
