The Yayhoos

Fear Not the Obvious

Bloodshot

Mix The Rolling Stones circa 1973 with some Jimmy Page riffs (of the same vintage), add some quasi-country lyrics, workman-like professionalism on the instrumentals and vocals, and you’ve got yourself The Yayhoos. With their debut album Fear Not the Obvious on Chicago based honky skronk mainstay Bloodshot Records, you’ve got a band with a mile of alt-country cred, and many more miles of touring ahead of them. With a fetishistic jones for tube amps and Telecasters, The Yayhoos are a solid bar-band with an appropriate sound, perhaps worth a listen to in their natural setting, but on disc coming up a few sandwiches short of a picnic.
