Phoenecia and Co-Workers

Odd Job Discriminaion

Schematic

The most recent release from the odd and mysterious Japanese industrial electronic group Phoenecia tells the story of the people who make their lives easier. Adult is a husband and wife team responsible for a rhythm box, Matmos are the medics, Prefuse 73 takes care of the cooking, and Otto Von Schirach does recon work. Each track delves into the lyrical and musical detail of these and more individuals that take the face of the band in its absence. A few of the best songs are “Adult – Compurythm Version,” which is a great party song, and the trip-hop “Prefuse 73 – Ramen Noodle Version.” In essence, it’s Dungeons & Dragons for the musically inclined, and as a result, very interesting.
