James Horner

A Beautiful Mind: Original Motion Picture Score

Decca / UMG

The soundtrack from the movie that was honored very nicely at the Golden Globes recently is as equally Beautiful as the film. The story of mathematical genius John Torbes Nash, Jr. and his life before and after the Nobel Peace Prize proves to be emotionally engaging, and Academy Award-winning composer James Horner wanted the soundtrack to be the same. From the playful opening of “A Kaleidoscope of Mathematics” to the gripping “The Car Chase” and rounding things off with Welsh singer Charlotte Church on “All Love Can Be” makes for one stupendous collection of big screen style. It’s modernly classical and is relaxing and emotional but not boring. With the honey-voiced Church helping with intonations throughout the disc, the results are nothing short of genius. Whoever thought math could be this beautiful?
