Capital D & The Molemen

Writer’s Block (The Movie)

All Natural / Molemen

An engaging and all-encompassing album of underground rap from All Natural’s main rapper Capital D featuring solid rhythm and production assistance from the up-and-coming Molemen camp. Capital D has a natural and loose flow to his rhymes, and his complete unwillingness – or disability, depending on who you ask – to write a half-decent melody line ensures that his raps never take second position to some chart-aiming chorus.

Lyrics center around social issues and the everyday fight for survival, and Capital D is an effective narrator, with his laid-back, insistent voice cutting through. A slight jazzy feel and a disarming playfulness define the main portion of this album, and while every track isn’t entirely up to standard, most of the album is filled with sophisticated and clever raps that never loose sight of the street from which they came.
