Reggae on the River

The 10th Anniversary

Earthbeat!

Reggae on the River is the northern California world music mecca that attracts some 10,000 pilgrims annually. Like most of you, I don’t have the right to put el Reggae Hajj before my name and this is my best opportunity to hear some of this fantastic music. A lot of world music and reggae’s brightest stars are assembled: Baaba Maal (the Jackie Chan of World Music – you have got to see his high-energy performance), Boukman Eksperyans, Jimmy Cliff, Angelique Kidjo, John Trudell, Ismael Lo, Annette Brissett (who sounds like Minnie Small after 40 years of Lucky Strikes), Third World, and more. It’s a nice, good-time double-CD and a real treat for world music and reggae fans. A gentle sway of a good time.
