Campfire Girls

Delongpre

Moontron

Put on a sullen face for this one; the majority of the songs here are heavy and sludgy rockers, in the vein of Failure, Gish-era Smashing Pumpkins, and the like.

The guitars here are the stars. It sounds as if they are overdubbed about a million times, making for a huge, powerful wall of distortion. The songs slowly plod along on the strength of these guitars, which will take many older listeners back to the days of the early ’90s, when slow and powerful was in vogue.

The mood of the songs on Delongpre ranges from sad to bored to tired. The album is actually quite fun to listen to, if you’re into bands like Low, Smashing Pumpkins, and Hum, as I am.

Pretty nondescript record, but good for a listen or two. Pumpkins fans, like I said, will enjoy this, but don’t forget to save you money for the new Zwan record!
