Life of the Party EP

RCA

Recorded in anticipation of a sophomore full-length album, Life of the Party hints at what should be a superb album.

The captivating title track is a perfect representation of the kind of fuzzy shoegaze rock in which Longwave specialize. With an enduring melody and a dark, atmospheric vibe, the song contrasts with the explosive riffing of the call-to-arms rocker “We’re Not Gonna Crack.” “Here It Comes” relaxes the pace yet somehow continues the intensity the band exudes. The acoustic track “There’s A Fire” shows a different side of the band’s sound, while the final track, “Sunday Night Health,” oozes class and mystery.

On this evidence alone, the results of Longwave’s sessions with producer John Leckie are greatly anticipated.
