New Found Glory
Coming Home
Suretone/Geffen
Bands in the punk-pop genre generally get bad press, but for one of its exponents to have released 4 albums and sold over 2.5 million records, New Found Glory must be doing something right.
Their fifth opus, Coming Home shows a new dimension to their sound, and even the band’s biggest critics could not be faulted for humming along to the infectious melodies that dominate many of its tracks.
Songs like “It’s Not Your Fault” and “Hold My Hand” would be memorable enough even if weren’t for the fact that they feature Benmont Tench’s stellar piano playing and give the band and the genre hard-won credibility at a stroke.
The melodic onslaught continues on the punchy title track and the brilliant opener, “Oxygen” proving that on their fifth album, New Found Glory still have talent in abundance and an enduring ability to defy their critics.
