Never Suspend Disbelief

Jump Start

Hardcore is a peg that has been beaten into the ground so deeply that barely a nub remains visible. So while One Win Choice’s Never Suspend Disbelief may not sound like something you’ve never heard before, it’s at least done with more heart and more skill than most of the bands that are calling themselves hardcore these days.

Inspired as much by Bad Religion and Strike Anywhere as by Howard Zinn and Noam Chomsky, this latest addition to New Jersey’s legacy of hardcore punk offer a brain with their brawn. Songs like “I Deny,” “Alive,” and “New Rome” have got political rage, youthful aggression, and a pummeling energy that strips away any misgivings I may have initially had about its lack of originality.
