Joe Livoti

Greetings From Galaxy X

Here’s some clean, interesting guitar work from a composer and teacher who hangs out in the Bay area. Mr. Livoti plays a sprightly light jazz guitar, accompanied by a drum and cymbal. His titles lean toward short space themes like “Lightship,” “Star Patrol,” and “Water Planet.” Tempos are upbeat and he covers the old Ventures song “Walk Don’t Run” with a verve and enthusiasm that does right by the original. While I’ve heard people pick out more notes per second than Joe does, he’s showy, fast and accurate. Listening to him sets your mind to a lakefront wine bar, where the music is just a hair too loud for easy conversation but they have a decent collection of reds. You could learn a lot from this man.
