Local Porn Star

with Stick Shift

E & D Billiards, Merritt Island, FL • 1.10.98

Taking the pseudo-stage by storm, Local Porn Star belted out nearly an hour of powerful, Tool-meets-Cypress Hill material and the crowd loved it. Utilizing two vocalist/rappers, the Brevard County band commanded attention from even the most jaded music fans. The only problem was the P.A. system, which consistently bathed the audience with skull-splitting feedback, but nobody seemed to mind.

Opening the show was Stick Shift, a no-frills, fuck-everything-up garage punk band. They were simply great. This is what punk is all about: grind out the chords and make the crowd move. Rumor says the band got its name from the fact that they know only five chords when they’re on the floor. Who cares? Punk should always be pure like this.

E & D Billiards is presenting the two-band format every Friday and Saturday night. This is a tremendous opportunity for local bands to get exposure and gain experience in front of an audience. Venues like this are rare and local bands should take advantage of this chance to score a gig. ◼
