The Trumans

The Trumans

This baker’s dozen (includes 12 credited songs and a bonus track) from Tally trio the Trumans is some very impressive power pop for a self-produced debut CD. The production and playing are top notch without being flashy or obtrusive, and the songs are pop without being wimpy (the guitar edge helps mucho on this score; on track three the lead playing momentarily sounds downright Billy Gibbons-ish; on other songs there is a Nirvana-ish heavy tone). Somewhat reminiscent of Material Issue or Urge Overkill or, for you obscurists, the Cave Dogs.

Really really good. Buy now. The Trumans, P.O. Box 14673, Tallahassee, FL 32317-4773; http://www.brigadoon.com/~trumans
