Elaine Summers
Transplanting
Loosegroove
Cut from the same cloth as women like Maria McKee and Joni Mitchell, Elaine Summers puts some guts back in folk based rock music. Transplanting was a very pleasant surprise. Even though her arrangements are overly familiar, her lyrics are sharp and clever, avoiding the overly sentimental, or worse, full of pseudo tough-girl posturing. Her songs are infectious, popping into your head long after listening to the record. Elaine Summers’ voice, while far from classically beautiful, is full of character that draws in the listener to the stories she has to tell. Loosegroove, 2508 Fifth Ave., Suite 110, Seattle, WA 98121
