Laddio Bolocko

Strange Warmings of Laddio Bolocko

Hungarian

The CD starts. “Goat Lips” sounds like two measures from a coda, repeated repeated repeated. It sounds like the notes you’d play to end a song, but like a gyrating barber pole, it never gets there. Shortly after, the band spazzes out into a different riff. In fact, Laddio Bolocko are the masters of riff. Playing the same measure or two over and over and over and making it sound interesting has got to be a challenge, a real challenge. Really a challenge. Establishment is a phase that is ongoing, and if you missed it the first time, it will return, for a little bit, anyway. Not the same but same enough. Completely new and fascinating. Hungarian, P.O.
