What the World Needs Now…

Songs of Burt Bacharach

Big Deal

All right already with the tributes! JC, what’s next? Death metal bands covering the Eagles?! But EC Comics legend Jack Davis was commissioned to draw the cover, let’s give it a try…

Then again, maybe it’s me. Who wouldn’t be into Shonen Knife’s version of “Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head,” or The Absolute Zeros singing “There’s Always Something There to Remind Me,” or even Cockeyed Ghost’s cover of “Walk On By.” And then you might as well crank up Mitchell Rasor singing “I Say A Little Prayer,” Hannah Cranna’s “Close To You” Ahh! Ahh! Make it stop! Make it stop! Remember Don Simmons from Amazon Women on the Moon? Well, his versions of these songs were more tolerable. If you’re the kind of person who’s run out of thrills in this life, and all you have left to try is this or bamboo shoots up the fingernails, flip a coin. Big Deal, P.O.
