The Donnas

American Teenage Rock ‘N’ Roll Machine

Lookout!

Slut Rock. Am I the first to coin that phrase? No? Didn’t think so. Well, regardless, that’s what this is. Gritty, garagey, junkets singing about what they like and do best. And it’s not just playing rock and roll.

These four dames, who look like they just got out of a roller derby match, sing songs like “You Make Me Hot,” “Wanna Get Some Stuff,” and “Looking For Blood.” They bar no holds about their itching loins; behind their pouting lips lies the untamable teenage rock and roll slut tigress that can’t wait to drop out of school and hang out by the street corner. This is raw rock and roll lust at its greasy, white trash finest. These chicks aren’t playing around by dressing cute or bobbing their hair; they take what they want, forget about luring in a man, grab him and – ride ‘em cowgirl! Clearly, they’re a band for the Leather Tuscadero secretly waiting to break out of every young women. Just what the 1990s need, genuine hard-edged bimbos who demand service.

Parents: don’t let your daughters get a hold of this record! Compared to the Donnas, Laverne and Shirley were nuns.

(Besides all that “slut” talk, the Donnas are a great garage punk band, too.) Lookout! Records, P.O. Box 11374, Berkeley, CA 94701
