Odd Toot

Bampot

Shadow/Substance

I don’t know who is exactly in this group, even though they announce themselves on the beginning of track one. The problem with that is that you simply won’t remember a goddamned thing after listening to the nine tracks on the wicked and sick album.

The future of jazz fusion has arrived, and this is it, motherfucker! Odd Toot’s Bampot is one of the most rockinest craziest ear candies out today. The basic concept is a really fucking good combination of great acid jazz riffs with electronically produced “Jungle beats nouveau” underneath. The two sounds complement each other well, and with the addition of insane trippy sounds here and there, create a groovin’ good time.

I’d like to know more about the players involved in this, as there appears to be a LIVE combo smashing out those riffs in addition with a great programmer mixing it up. Could it all be done by the horn-playing elephant on the cover?

Excellent rocking acid jazz here. A party in every cut. Would make the mother of a DJ proud. Shadow Records, 111 E. 14th St. #334, New York, NY 10003
