The Stranglers
Friday The Thirteenth
Cleopatra
Forget those well-intentioned tribute bands who attempt to honor the great one’s memory and reputation. Drop the modesty and do it yourself (if you want it done right) like the Stranglers. If possible, get an eighteen-girl orchestra to back you up, and record your legacy at the Royal Albert Hall to lend a little class. Thumb your nose at superstition and do it all on the most notorious day of the month. Use this opportunity to cement your longevity and chronicle your evolution from punk to present. Hopefully this doesn’t mean that they’re about to die. Bonus feature: photographic proof positive that Jean-Jacques Burnel sans shirt is still a dashing scoundrel. Cleopatra Records, P.O.
