Bran Van 3000

Glee

Capitol

Just when I though nothing good would ever come out of Canada (except Molson), Montreal drops the bomb with BV3000, a collective of DJs, divas, and rappers who are sewn together by founding member Jamie “Bran Man” DiSalvio.

Glee winds through sample-laden grooves like “Couch Surfer” and “Old School” then twists with a country, bass-heavy sound in “Supermodel.” Oh, and there’s the whacked cover of Quiet Riot’s “Cum on Feel the Noize” just to keep you guessing. When I first saw the cover of Glee, a couple clever song titles piqued my interest. “Gimme Sheldon” & “Highway to Heck” surely meant something was happening here. But my journey was only beginning… I found a lovely Beck-like influence in the music and also in DiSalvio’s vocals. The variety demonstrated by the 20-or-so artists involved in “Glee” is exceptional as evidenced in the sultry and harmonious “Drinking in L.A.,” which has already started to see widespread airplay.

If it is the uncommonly good sounds you seek, Bran Van 3000 is it. _www.visioninternet.net/clients/net00394/index/html_
