Self

Codename: Spivey [Reissue]

OffTime

This is not the alternative rock Self, rather the pop-punk Self.

There is a constant glut of pop-punk bands, few of them outstanding in any way. Some have caught my ear and held it consistently, such as Self, Fun Size, Discount, and Shyster. This is a reissue of an album originally released on Three Day Hero. Two years later (?!) it still strikes the right chords in me. Great hooky pop-punk with just a little grit, great melodies, and great lyrics. Speaking of lyrics, why were they left out of the re-issue? A page less in the booklet, too. Weird. Essential for you pop-punk fans. Especially great live. OffTime Records, P.O. Box 479176, Chicago, IL 60647
